Eva Liu – Human Resources Supervisor, Jebsen Motors
Since I joined Jebsen in September 2013, the Group has offered me many development opportunities. In the first year, I worked as a Training Coordinator and learned to manage training classes. With an aim to gain more human resources knowledge and skills, I successfully applied an internal transfer as an HR Assistant in Oct 2014. In June 2015, I took the initiative to conduct a Learning and Development (L&D) Discussion with my supervisor.
The L&D Plan allows me and my supervisor to identify my learning and development needs together, and I can receive coaching from my supervisor and prepare myself for greater responsibilities. About 70% of the development activities in the L&D Plan are anchored in on-the-job learning, so that the L&D Plan can be immediately applied to my daily work.
I am glad to have a supportive supervisor, allowing me to access various learning platforms. She also took her time to share detailed feedback about my work performance. With her support, we developed my personal L&D plan based on my learning needs and job requirements.
The plan has guided my development over the past year, during which I have mastered my telephone interview techniques. This helps me identify suitable candidates more quickly and accurately, contributing to a more efficient recruitment. I have also been more active in staff activities to build closer relationships with my colleagues and understand their thoughts, thus facilitating my daily work.
In the coming year, I plan to gain more face-to-face interview experience and deepen my understanding on the labour law as well as compensation and benefits, such as the commission and bonus structure. All these learnings will help me better understand each job position and facilitate me to become a professional recruiter in the future.
