Aggressive expansion plans reflect growing confidence in China market this year.

Jebsen Group (Jebsen), a leading marketing and distribution organisation for premium products with a unique presence in the Greater China region, today announced that its Industrial business unit is forecasting a 20 per cent growth in China for 2010. With aggressive expansion plans, Jebsen Industrial is projecting an increase in market share and a turnover growth twice that of the country as a whole.

Despite the poor economy in 2009, Jebsen Industrial’s performance was encouraging and the business unit was one of the Group’s strongest contributors during the downturn. Today’s announcement demonstrates confidence in an upturn for the sector and signals that this market will be an attractive destination for foreign investment in 2010.

This year, Jebsen Industrial plans to hire about 80 new employees, a 40 per cent rise in the staff strength of the business unit. The increase will also include several key senior appointments in China.

In the first quarter, Jebsen Industrial’s food ingredients, bakery, packaging and paper businesses merged to form the new Food, Beverage & Pharma Division headed by Dr Elizabeth Leung. This strategic merger of existing businesses and customer bases is expected to garner increasing benefits for principals and customers.

"China’s F&B and pharmaceutical industries are high-growth sectors with great potential for high-quality international suppliers and committed local innovators. It is also a key pillar of Jebsen Industrial’s growth strategy,” said Mr Zimmermann.

A new sales office was recently opened in Wuhan to better serve customers in western China, including Shaanxi, Hubei, Sichuan, Chongqing, Guizhou, and Yunnan, while the existing Chengdu office is also being expanded.

The Food, Beverage & Pharma Division has already added new partners to expand its portfolio for the industry, including Wei-Teh Flavour & Fragrance Biotechnology, one of the largest flavour and fragrance manufacturers in the region. Jebsen Industrial will supply and supporting the partner’s fermented milk and fruit powder flavours throughout Greater China.

Jebsen Industrial also helped the Huatong Group, China’s market leader in meat processing, increase the productivity of its ham packing line, with a fast and flexible customised thermoforming packaging solution.

Additionally, the business unit has launched a revamped website at jebsenindustrial.com this quarter as part of its effort to become more customer-oriented and ramp up its business in China. The site is live in Simplified Chinese and English, providing comprehensive information on more than 20 industries, 150 brands and 600 products.
