The first thing I learnt when I joined Jebsen Motors was that the Porsche 4S centres it operates aren’t service centres – they are centres of service excellence. That’s how high expectations are. But it’s understandable since both Jebsen Motors and Porsche are brands that are reputed for their uncompromising quality standards.
As a Porsche technician, I’m expected to have expert knowledge on all Porsche models, no matter how complex the technology or how sophisticated the electronics. Thankfully, there are regular training programmes and industry events to help technicians like me keep up with the latest advancements.
One such event was the Porsche China New Body Repair Technology Practical Seminar 2014, held on October 11 in Beijing. It was a full day event attended by 53 technicians from Porsche Centres all across the nation, so it was also a great chance for me to meet up with colleagues from other Jebsen Motors operated Porsche Centres. We started the day with a series of seminars but the highlight was the hands-on challenge that came after that.
That afternoon, our abilities were really tested. Our challenge was to repair the 918 Spyder and Macan bodies, the 911 Targa roof and the Audatex system. It was tough but definitely a memorable and eye-opening experience to witness the impressive skills of fellow technicians. You can probably imagine my surprise when I came out tops in the competition! It was also equally delightful to have my colleague Chen Kangdi from Porsche Centre Guangzhou awarded second place.
We’re all really proud that Jebsen Motors managed to take the top two spots in this nationwide competition. I think we have truly lived up to our name as the longest and largest Porsche dealers in China.
