Solid as a Rock : Celebrating the Success of Jebsen and CASIO’s Long-Term Partnership

In celebration of G-SHOCK’s 40th anniversary, Jebsen Consumer joined forces with CASIO to unveil the G-SHOCK “AN EVOLUTION OF TOUGHNESS” exhibition in Hong Kong. On May 10, Jebsen Consumer hosted a luncheon for CASIO’s visiting management team from Japan, alongside its major local retail partners, with great attention paid to the event.

A six-member delegation from CASIO joined the luncheon, including Senior General Manager of the Overseas Sales Division Mr Tetsuro Ono from CASIO’s Global Marketing Headquarters, and Mr Kikuo Ibe, the father of G-SHOCK. Jebsen Consumer also invited 20 local dealers to the event alongside CASIO management, providing opportunities for in-depth conversations about market feedback and sales strategies.

Mr Tetsuro Ono said, “CASIO has always been committed to ‘zero to one’ creation and G-SHOCK is definitely representative of this philosophy. We aim to forge deep and lasting relationships with every user and we are currently looking to attract Gen-Z users. We would like to explore and develop this market together with Jebsen, creating new cultural trends and providing the values that people need in changing times.”

At the luncheon, our CEO Mr Alfons Mensdorff presented a souvenir to CASIO Japan. A special piece of Chinese calligraphy meaning “solid as a rock”, the gift captures the unbreakable bond between Jebsen and CASIO, forged through years of cooperation, respect and shared goals.

Since its launch by CASIO in 1983, G-SHOCK has enjoyed a reputation as an “unbreakable watch”. Its continuous breakthroughs in technology and durability have seen the watch amass countless loyal fans over the years. Its global cumulative shipments have exceeded 100 million units since 2017.

In Hong Kong, CASIO is part of the city’s collective memory, due to the G-SHOCK being the first watch purchase for so many Hong Kong customers. Jebsen Consumer re-established G-SHOCK as a top-tier aspirational watch brand after it became CASIO’s exclusive distributor of watches and calculators in Hong Kong and Macau in 2019. In addition to traditional stores like City Chain, Jebsen Consumer also developed premium distribution channels in the city, such as Oriental Watch and Prince Jewellery & Watch, which are famous for selling world-renowned timepieces.

The G-SHOCK “AN EVOLUTION OF TOUGHNESS” exhibition has proven to be very popular in Hong Kong, with its ticket registration reaching full capacity immediately after its launch.
