From November 5 to 8, the Project Morning Star (PMS) Phase III field trip took place, organised by the Group in Kunming City and Qiaojia County, Yunnan Province. A total of 15 Jebsen volunteers visited project sites, participating in voluntary services to support local communities and schools. This marked the first field trip since the launch of PMS Phase III.

During the field trip, Jebsen volunteers visited the Ophthalmology Department of the Affiliated Hospital of Yunnan University, and spent time with the ophthalmologists and patients to learn more about the children’s eye health network in Yunnan Province. They also conducted eye screenings and eye health education classes for primary school students in Qiaojia Country in order to foster a better understanding of eye care. Our volunteers also had the opportunity to engage local students in a fun “Sports for Vision”  activity during their visit.

During PMS Phase 1, a project site was established in Dali, Xiangyun County that focused on improving the region’s ophthalmology facilities. Jebsen volunteers originally visited the area in a 2013 field trip – and now ten years later, PMS Phase III has returned to Yunnan, with a focus on tackling children’s vision problems by supporting the development of the province’s eye health network for children.
