On December 10, the Group Sustainability organised the “Listen to the Museum” activity in Shanghai redeeming 100,000 Vision Points of “Sports for Vision” Phase I to purchase tickets of Shanghai Film Museum. We invited Jebsen volunteers to accompany visually impaired students to experience the wonderful world in a special way.

Through one-on-one explanations by Jebsen volunteers, visually impaired students and their families learned about the history of film development in Shanghai, classic films from different countries and the stories behind film production. The visually impaired students and volunteers were entertained by the sound effects, such as robots, aliens and demons in the Voice Changing Show area.  In the Simultaneous Interpretation area, students learned about classic films from different countries. In the Animation Gallery, participants were drawn to classic animations such as “Black Cat Sheriff”, “Uproar in Heaven” and “Calabash Brothers”, touching the sculptures and taking photos together.

During the event, Jebsen volunteers, visually impaired students and their families also experienced a clip from an accessible film “Wandering Earth”. Accessible films with audio description and descriptive subtitles are made for people with visual and hearing disabilities. To give the visually impaired a complete picture of the whole film, the accessible film was re-edited to include extensive voice-over narration.

The Shanghai Film Museum also prepared trophies of the Hundred Flowers Awards, the Golden Rooster Awards and the Huabiao Film Awards, the three most important awards in Chinese cinema, and presented them to the visually impaired students to touch, making everyone look like a “movie star”.
