Chairman's Message

Jebsen Chairman - Hans Michael Jebsen

Chairman's Message

The first contact of the Jebsen and Jessen families with China go back to the beginning of the 19th century, when journeys between Europe and the Chinese coast were treacherous and could take up to a year.

When Jebsen & Co was established on March 1, 1895 in Hong Kong, our founders Jacob Jebsen and Heinrich Jessen chose 捷成洋行 as its Chinese name. These four characters, the three-fish logo and a commitment to fair trade, equality, trust and goodwill have become synonymous with our entire family enterprise, which spans three continents and fifteen countries.

From the very beginning, we have served as a bridge between continents and cultures, suppliers and consumers. Much of our success comes from the teamwork between our Chinese and European colleagues. Our winning formula is inspired by the Analects of Confucius: “Within the four seas, all men are brothers.”

Jebsen's present-day activities are highly diversified, encompassing marketing, distribution and investment services as well as manufacturing partnerships with enterprises from Europe and Asia.

Four generations on both sides of our founders’ families have remained committed to Asia, just as many of our executives have dedicated their entire careers to the Group’s success. This is a mark of pride and the cornerstone of our longevity.

Respect for foreign cultures grows from strong roots of one's own. Jebsen's culture today, as throughout the past century, stands for a commitment to Asia and its prosperity, the acceptance of the uniqueness of each market and rewarding success.

Each and every one of our employees is key to the company as a whole. Five core values have become intrinsic to Jebsen - Commitment, Excellence, Recognition, Responsibility and Trust. These guide us every day as we strive towards a common purpose, united and stronger for it.
